Here is a box of Cal Magnum Paintballs I found this box of Cal Mag in my storage unit. Not sure who sent it to me. It likely dates to 1989-1993? No paint in it but the box is still in decent shape.
California Magnum went out of business in 1992-93 so this box dates to before then. Nick “HP_Lovecraft” Scott describes two of Cal Mags mistakes in a post on mcarterbrown. Scott explains the invested heavily in a metallic paint that was impossible to see one it broke, and second, their refusal to remove iodine from their paintball mixture.
Scott writes, that California Magnum was “one of the last companies to still use iodine in the mix. Most companies stopped in the 80s, or never used it. CalMag, for whatever reason, kept it in the mix. Problem was that it mean the paint stained your clothes, and just about everything else. (ie walls, gear, trees, etc).”
