A short write up on Keith Idema’s “Sargie Award” winners at the 1990 RP Scherer North American Paintball Championship (at Skirmish USA Jim Thorpe Pennsylvania).
I’ve heard Gilbert Martinez as well as many other talk about the Sargie awards but this is one of the few photos I’ve seen of Sargie, Idema’s most loyal companion.
As the article states, these awards were “based more on an attitude andperception rather than such hard cold facts as … who won the tournament. The winners of the award must exhibit behavior at the respective tournament that appeals to Sargie’s own biased slant on paintball, truly the most subjective recognition a team can receive in the sport today.”
