Rebuilding KC No Hot Shots, Sheridan and Southport Regs

Here are a couple Regulators I rebuilt this week. They all use Eric Scott’s same inline components but but have different appearances, and in the case of the KC No Hot Shot regulator, a different external design.

All three of these regulators share the same internal components but David Kermode’s models, built in late 1994 to likely 1996, feature a beefed up external thickness of 1 inch and an end cap which protected the user against their hpa tank regulator failing and a surge of High Pressure (3K at the time) going directly into their marker.

On November 11th of 1994, user S. M. Slamon posted to Rec.Sport.Paintball, regarding his attempts to contact Eric Scott, at Southern Pneumatics, concerning issues with his South Port Regulator:
“When I was trying to contact the manufacturer, Southern Pneumatics, about  2 months ago, I was unable to get an answer on their business line. I tried off and on for about a month before I gave up.”

 S. M. Slamon continues, “I contacted Kermode Concepts, who was selling them for a while under the “NO HOT-SHOTS” name, and was informed that they were working on a safer,  updated design of the regulator and that it was going to be released (pending testing) before the end of the year.”

So the partnership between Eric Scott and David Kermode ended by the end of 1994 and David’s regs were reintroduced around 1995 or so.

Sheridan likely reintroduced Eric Scott’s regulator with the introduction of their Equalizer in 1995/96.

On the Sheridan Regulator a C clip retainer is used. I tested this Sheridan reg after rebuilding it with three 006 70 Duro Poly Urethane Orings and it seemed to work okay.
