So Cal Stock at Jungle Island for Jan 2015 12 gram challenge

On Saturday, January 10th, 2015 So Cal Stock played an all 12 gram game at Jungle Island paintball in Lake Elsinore. According to our fearless leader and game organizer, Sonny Phommarine, our total count was 38 players.

This was still a Modified Stock event since not all players were using horizontal feed paintguns but we had a great time and the use of 12 grams added even more excitement to the already intense games that we typically play.

Benji and I also worked together to get some neat footage for the video above. I used a Contour and a Go pro and Benji was recording with a Sony camera and a contour.

We started out playing Bacci’s Bad Boys vs Sonny’s Super Stars but after getting spanked over and over we switched up the teams for the rest of the day, and they evened out nicely.  We probably fit in around 20 games over the course of the day and everyone appeared to have a great time.

If you haven’t played at Jungle Island in Lake Elsinore before, there are 5 fields we typically play. The most common, and hottest during the summer is the town field. It’s a fast paced field which doesn’t usually stagnate since there are tons of options for movement and you have to situate a lot of players in your front line to really hold your side.

If you get down to 3 guys you’re definitely going to get players breaking through. We end up pushing a side most times.

Here is a good shot of Chad shooting his duck on one side of the town.  Chad played for the X-Men in Hawaii and has obviously been playing with this duck for a while.

Here’s a good video of him blasting off a few round with it a year or so back at Jungle.  Mr. Jorge Cervantez is in the background.

We started playing the Amazon course next. A few hazards have prevented Jungle from allowing us to play this course as it was originally intended, closing off nearly half the area.

Benji took some good photos on this course but the play was a little stagnate.

There’s also the Western Town, which is more open in the center and can be fun with fewer players but when it’s overcrowded there’s less options for movement, and the center is basically a no go. We played a respawn game on this field and I got shot over and over while Danny and Danny moved on Art and I.

Looking down the barrel.
I can’t tell if I sliced, had a ball explode on my underbored freak insert (way too underbored) or was shot in the barrel.

I didn’t end up using the Redux too much over the course of the day since I had my .679 freak insert in and the paint I was shooting was closer to .685. The shots i did take were either slowed down by too much by friction or exploded all together.

Here is our group later in the day. We still had good numbers and everyone was still shooting off 12 grams instead of going back to their tanks.

After playing Jungle, Benji and I ate at Fat Joe’s in LA.  Pretty good sandwiches with some interesting flavor combination.
